Who is Muphulusi and how did you get started in the marketing world?

I am a social manager & strategist for businesses. A driven and ambitious woman who is dedicated to building a successful empire while making a positive impact. 

But for me, that’s only half of the story. Despite my professional ambitions, I am also deeply proud of my role as a mother to my amazing son and a cheerleader to many boss babes.

So how did I get started? Before I became a social media manager, I had the opportunity to run my own online clothing store. This experience gave me valuable insights into how to market a business online, and it sparked a passion for digital marketing that has stayed with me ever since.

During my entrepreneurial journey, I took numerous online courses and experimented with different marketing strategies to see what worked best. I loved the challenge of connecting with my target audience and finding creative ways to showcase my products in a competitive marketplace.

As I gained more experience and expertise, I realized that I could use my skills to help other businesses succeed online. That’s when I decided to start my own personal brand as a social media manager, with the goal of supporting and empowering entrepreneurs who want to thrive in the digital world.

I love being able to share my knowledge and insights with others, and I’m honoured to be part of a community that values innovation, creativity, and strategic thinking.

What sets your brand apart from other social media marketing companies?

As a personal brand, I take pride in the fact that what sets me apart from other marketing agencies is the strong connection I have with my clients. For me, business is personal, and my clients are not just clients, they’re family.

I love nothing more than helping business owners overcome their challenges and achieve success. By getting to know my clients on a personal level, I am able to truly understand their unique struggles and tailor my approach to meet their specific needs.

Through this personal connection, I am able to empathize with my clients and put myself in their shoes. This allows me to provide solutions that not only address their current challenges but also anticipate any potential roadblocks down the line.

I believe that business is built on relationships, and this is exemplified in my work as a personal brand. My clients trust me because they know that I have their best interests at heart, and will always go above and beyond to help them achieve their goals.

My job as a social media manager is not just managing pages and creating content. It’s a lifestyle! If I were to tell you that I eat, sleep, and live social media, you might think it’s a joke. But in reality, I’m always online, and I can’t get enough of it.

I stay updated with the latest trends by reading marketing blogs, watching YouTube videos, and listening to podcasts to keep myself updated with everything that’s happening in the social media world. 

It’s not just about knowing what’s happening but also about anticipating what could be the next big thing. It’s a demanding task, but it’s one that I love.

What’s next for you and your business?

I want to stay committed to building a creative company for business owners, especially startups, to rely on. This company will provide them with a space to establish better ways to market their businesses and pave the way for them to thrive.

I understand the challenges that come with starting a business, there are so many moving pieces and it can be overwhelming to know where to begin. That’s why I want to help entrepreneurs navigate the early stages of their startup journey by providing them with valuable advice, resources, and support.

But it’s not just about getting started – it’s also about building a strong foundation that sets the stage for long-term success. By providing startups with access to the latest tools and technologies, they will be able to streamline their operations and stay ahead of the competition.

At the end of the day, I believe that every startup deserves a chance to succeed, and I am committed to doing all that I can to make that dream a reality.

Do you have any advice for aspiring social media managers out there?

As a digipreneur in today’s world, it’s important to expand beyond our own borders. If you’re based in South Africa, don’t let the perceived slow growth of the industry limit your potential. International clients are just as accessible to you as local ones. 

One way to achieve this is by signing up on freelancer platforms and joining Facebook groups. There you can connect with other international freelancers and grow your client base beyond South Africa. Your skills are not limited geographically. So go ahead, confidently take your talents to the world.

Getting to know Muphulusi:

  • If I had to choose one person, alive or dead, as my inspiration, it would be… Oprah Winfrey
  • My favourite hobby is (other than social media)… The best way to tune out from the constant noise and recharge my batteries is to immerse myself in nature. Whether it’s going on a hike with friends in the mountains or camping, being surrounded by trees, wildlife, and fresh air is truly therapeutic for me.
  • My daily mantra is… My daily mantra is to be kind to myself and those around me, to be grateful for all the blessings in my life, and to work towards my goals with dedication and perseverance.
